The United States Government has removed over 350 words from official websites, according to PEN America. Words that reflect truths about diversity, the environment, health, immigration, LGBTQ+ identity, racism, and women’s issues, among others have been systematically deleted as a tactic for creating fear, and in an attempt to make the ideas and people behind these words vanish. These Truths is a meditation on holding onto values and beliefs in the face of censorship. In a series of works on paper, including a window installation, I layer text, cut paper, and paint, to explore and combat the current erasure of the truths we hold. In other cut paper pieces, I use the tarot image of “The Hanged Man” to express the feeling of free fall I have been experiencing since the 2024 election.

    Happy Summer!

I'm excited to share a small group of pieces created during the recent solar eclipse.
Using the sun, I created cyanotypes which I then altered in my studio using paint, a typewriter, and a Japanese hole punch. I was meditating on the eclipse, what shadows fall over us, and how the light returns. These will be on view in the Backroom Gallery at Mercury 20 along with work by Dalar Alahverdi and Elizabeth Sher.
