I was struck by all the pretty plastic packaging that passed through my hands and began to collect it. I was thinking about what would still be sprouting when the catastrophe of climate change hits full force. I dont want to buy stuff to make stuff and I dont want to trash stuff to make stuff that will become trash. The work tries to tread lightly; using bamboo, salvaged wood, reused tea tins, scavenged plastic, but acknowledges the inescapable compromises and ironies of consumption (even organic yogurt comes in plastic tubs).
I believe that hope is not a consumer product; we must create our own hope. Heres mine; out of garbage make meaning, disposable bowls whirl into roses and spin in the sun. I want to leave something green, something petaled still growing when my kids and their kids take their turn.
